When you lose a tooth, the surrounding bone (alveolar bone) shrinks as it heals. This can change the appearance of your face and jawline. Dental implants can prevent bone loss and provide a permanent replacement for a lost tooth.
How Implants Work
Dental implants are a simple device similar to a wood screw. They are made of titanium, which bonds easily to bone tissue. The implant is surgically placed in your jawbone, allowed to heal, and then used to support a dental crown, bridge, or denture.
Guided Implant Surgery
Dr. Miller began placing dental implants in 2000 and he has continuously invested in training and technology since then. Guided Implant Surgery is a computer-assisted technique that increases the long-term success rate of dental implants. We use 3D X-ray systems and computer-aided design to plan and design your dental implant and crown. The system helps create a “surgical guide” that Dr. Miller then uses to place your implant safely and predictably.
Post Implant Care
You need to care for dental implants as if they were a natural tooth. Brush and floss around the implant to remove food particles and plaque that could cause a harmful infection.
